AFL-CIO Takes Action: Solidarity Delivers Results

Despite unprecedented attacks on working people throughout 2025 by the Trump administration and its billionaire allies, the labor movement never backed down. Last week was a powerful reminder of what solidarity and organizing can achieve—delivering real wins for workers and their families.

Despite unprecedented attacks on working people throughout 2025 by the Trump administration and its billionaire allies, the labor movement never backed down. Last week was a powerful reminder of what solidarity and organizing can achieve—delivering real wins for workers and their families.

Bipartisan Victory for Federal Workers
In a rare bipartisan vote, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Protect America’s Workforce Act (H.R. 2550), taking a major step toward reversing the administration’s union-busting executive order and restoring collective bargaining rights for nearly one million federal workers. This victory followed months of organizing with Democrats and Republicans alike. Now, the fight moves to the Senate—and we’re urging senators to stand with workers and pass this bill.

Union Brother Kilmar Is Home
After months of unlawful detention and separation from his family, SMART union member Kilmar Abrego Garcia is finally home following a federal judge’s order for his immediate release. Kilmar’s case was an unjust attack on one worker that threatened the rights of all. His return shows the power of collective action—and our commitment to standing with immigrant workers and against efforts to divide working people.

Defending TSA Workers from Illegal Attacks
Less than 24 hours after the House passed H.R. 2550, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced an illegal move to terminate the collective bargaining agreement covering 47,000 TSA officers at more than 400 airports nationwide. This retaliatory action defies a federal court injunction and puts both workers and travelers at risk during the busy holiday season. The AFL-CIO is fighting back and calling out this latest union-busting attack.

What You Can Do
Join us in urging lawmakers to protect TSA officers and public safety by passing the bipartisan Rights for the TSA Workforce Act (H.R. 2086 / S. 997).

When working people stand together, we win—and we won’t stop fighting back.
