Through the California Labor Management Coalition for Quality Care (LMC), nursing home workers are taking a historic step toward negotiating California’s first-ever statewide union contract for nursing home workers. This statewide effort represents a major opportunity to raise industry standards, improve job quality, and strengthen care for residents by addressing key issues such as staffing levels, wages, healthcare benefits, and working conditions.

For months, SEIU 2015 members have been at the bargaining table fighting for livable wages, safe staffing protocols, and real investment in the workforce that keeps nursing homes running. However, workers report that nursing home operators continue to stall negotiations and refuse to engage in meaningful progress.

In response, long-term care workers are escalating their efforts through picket actions to demand the strong, equitable contract they deserve. The South Bay Labor Council remains committed to supporting these workers as they fight for dignity on the job, improved standards across the industry, and quality care for all residents.
